Blueliner earned All-SPHL Second Team honors in 2016-17

ROANOKE, VA – The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs announced on Tuesday that 2016-17 team captain and All-SPHL Second Team defenseman Nick Schneider has signed an agreement to return to the team for training camp in October. It will be his ninth professional season.

“We’re thrilled to have Nick back in camp with us this fall,” Rail Yard Dawgs head coach Sam Ftorek said. “His veteran presence and leadership were huge for us both on and off the ice and we’re looking forward to him back in Roanoke.”

The 32-year-old Schneider appeared in 55 games for the Rail Yard Dawgs and set new career-highs with six goals, 34 assists and 40 points.  He dished out a league-leading 17 power play assists and his 40 points were the second most among defensemen.

“I’m extremely excited to be returning to Roanoke,” Schneider said. “The community was incredibly welcoming to me and my family and we can’t wait to get back this fall.”

The Rail Yard Dawgs will convene for training camp in early October and open the 2017-18 season at home against the Fayetteville Marksmen on October 20.
