JEREMY BEIRNES SIGNS SPHL DEAL WITH ROANOKE

Forward led team with eight fighting majors in 2016-17

ROANOKE, VA – The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs announced on Tuesday that forward Jeremy Beirnes has signed an SPHL contract to return to the team for training camp in October.

Beirnes has also signed an ECHL contract with the Wheeling Nailers and will participate in training camp for the ECHL affiliate of the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins and Pittsburgh Penguins. Should he be released from his contract with the Nailers, Beirnes would join the Rail Yard Dawgs.

“We loved what Jeremy brought to the team last season,” Rail Yard Dawgs head coach Sam Ftorek said. “While we of course wish him the best with his opportunity in Wheeling, we’re thrilled to know that if he plays in the SPHL it will be here.”

Beirnes made his season debut on February 10 after being acquired in a trade with the Huntsville Havoc. He appeared in 16 games for Roanoke and totaled one goal, two assists and a team-leading eight fighting majors before being placed on season-ending IR on April 4.

The Rail Yard Dawgs will convene for training camp in early October and open the 2017-18 season at home against the Fayetteville Marksmen on October 20.

2017-18 ticket packages are available now! Don’t miss out on your chance at eight giveaway items this year. Contact the Rail Yard Dawgs office at (540) 344-3294 for more information!
