
Mickey Gray
President
Mickey started with the Rail Yard Dawgs in 2016 and serves as the current President of the organization. A native of Chicago, Illinois, Mickey began as the General Manager before being promoted to Vice President and eventually President in June of 2018. Mickey has experience leading organizations to success having worked in Peoria, Illinois, spending three years as the Assistant General Manager of the SPHL’s Peoria Rivermen. Prior to that, he spent time with the Bloomington Blaze, the Central Illinois Drive, and the Bloomington Edge.
Mickey is a graduate of Lincoln College in Lincoln, Illinois, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He lives in Roanoke with his wife, Allison, his daughter, Kaylee, and their two dogs Gus and Georgia.

Alexandra Crutchfield

Alexandra started working for the Rail Yard Dawgs in 2016. She first served as the Marketing Manager, then had that role expanded to Director of Corporate Partnerships and Marketing. Most recently, she was named Vice President of Business Operations in the summer of 2019. A Roanoke native, Alexandra graduated from North Cross School in Roanoke and attended Roanoke College. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing.
She enjoys spending time on the river with her husband, Clark, and their former Pup of the Game, Maple. Alexandra received the SPHL’s Wanda Amos Community Service Award for the 2022-2023 season.

Andrew began working with the Rail Yard Dawgs in 2019 as an Account Executive and progressed through various roles. Today, Andrew serves as the Director of Ticketing. A Roanoke native, he attended Hidden Valley High School and earned a Bachelor's degree in Marketing with a minor in Economics from Radford University. When he’s not talking to our fans, he enjoys going to baseball games and concerts. Andrew lives with his wife Lindsei, and they have their rescued pup, Rusty always providing them with smiles!

Trevor McKinley

Trevor is responsible for video and graphic production as well as game day operations and event management.
Trevor started working with the team during the 2022-2023 season. The North Carolina native moved to Roanoke in 1998 and graduated from Hidden Valley High School before earning degrees in both Business Administration and Graphic Design. Prior to starting with the Dawgs, Trevor managed Fork in the Market and served as the Chair of Graphics & Advertising for the Roanoke Square Society. Trevor and his wife, Rachel, live in the Star City with their dog Peach. In his free time, Trevor enjoys boxing, playing video games, cooking, and watching his favorite teams.

Cyrus is a Roanoke native and graduate of Cave Spring High School and Roanoke College, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Sport Management in December 2023. After graduating, Cyrus began working full time for the team in 2024 as an Account Executive. Outside of work, Cyrus' interests include hiking and traveling, and Cyrus’ favorite teams outside of the Rail Yard Dawgs include the Celtics and Virginia Tech. Cyrus also lives in Roanoke with his wife Madison.

Madelyn started working for the Rail Yard Dawgs in 2025, after graduating from James Madison University with a Bachelor’s degree in Media Arts & Design with a concentration in Digital Video & Cinema and a minor in Communication Studies. She moved to Roanoke with her family in 2021. Outside of work she enjoys watching sports, hiking, and spending time with her family.

Dan Bremner
Head Coach & General Manager of Hockey Operations
Dan became the second head coach in Rail Yard Dawgs history during the 2017-2018 season, joining the team in December 2017. The Sarnia, Ontario native has made the postseason in each year that he's been at the helm of the Dawgs. Dan led Roanoke to back-to-back appearances in President’s Cup Final during the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 seasons, as Roanoke won the championship for the first time in franchise history in 2023. Dan currently ranks eighth on the SPHL coaching all-time wins list. During his professional playing career in the SPHL, he appeared for the Knoxville Ice Bears, Columbus Cottonmouths, and Peoria Rivermen. Dan served as captain for the Rivermen for each of his final two seasons. In 281 career SPHL games, Dan netted 48 goals, 79 assists, and 709 penalty minutes. Before becoming the head coach and general manager for the Rail Yard Dawgs, Dan was an assistant coach at Ohio University.
Dan spends much of his free time volunteering with local youth hockey teams, in addition to owning Virginia Hockey Lab, a company centered around private coaching lessons. When he’s not on the ice, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, Deanna, and their two dogs, Carl and Jerry.

Jeff Jones
Assistant Coach
Jeff is back with the Dawgs for his first season as assistant coach after suiting up for three seasons as a player in Roanoke from 2018-2022. In his three seasons as a player for the team, the Revelstoke, British Columbia native completed an 'Ironman' season on each occasion, never missing a game on his way to 159 career appearances for the Dawgs (8th-most in franchise history). With Roanoke, Jeff tallied 57 goals (tied for 3rd-most in team history), 65 assists (tied for 7th-most in team history), and a total of 122 career points (5th-most in franchise history). Jeff added an additional two goals, six assists, and a plus-nine rating in 14 career games in the President's Cup Playoffs, helping Roanoke to its first-ever series win in the 2019 Challenge Round over top-seeded Peoria, in addition to pushing the Dawgs to their first President's Cup Final in 2022 following eliminations of the top two seeds, Knoxville and Huntsville. Jeff also had experience in the ECHL, France 2, and in the SPHL with Huntsville and Peoria during his playing days.
Prior to his professional playing career, Jeff played four seasons of college hockey at Robert Morris University (NCAA-D1), where he recorded 18 goals and 45 assists in 129 career collegiate games. His career SPHL totals added up to 82 goals and 90 assists in 219 career appearances. Jeff graduated from Robert Morris in 2015 with a degree in Sports Management. Jeff volunteers with the U14 Junior Dawgs team, assists Dan as a coach for the Virginia Hockey Lab, and loves to spend time traveling with his fiancée during his time away from the ice.

Nick DeVito
Assistant Coach
Nick is in his third season as an assistant coach after suiting up for two seasons as a player in Roanoke from 2021-2023. In his his seasons as a player for the team, the Averill Park, New York tallied 22 goals, 39 assists, and 105 penalties minutes in 92 career regular season appearances. Nick ranks among the top 16 players in franchise history in all major scoring categories. Nick added an additional seven goals, seven assists, and a plus-three rating in 18 career games in the President's Cup Playoffs, helping Roanoke to its first-ever President's Cup Final in 2022 following eliminations of the top two seeds, Knoxville and Huntsville, and the franchise's first President's Cup championship in 2023, in which DeVito led the SPHL in both goals and points during that postseason run. Nick also had experience in the ECHL with both Adirondack and Idaho during his playing days, and has filled in for two games during the 2025-26 season for the FPHL's Blue Ridge Bobcats.
Prior to his professional playing career, Nick played four seasons of college hockey at SUNY-Morrisville (NCAA-D3), where he recorded 36 goals and 57 assists in 100 career collegiate games, in addition to lettering for both the golf and soccer teams as a three-sport varsity athlete. Nick graduated from Morrisville State in 2015 with a degree in Business Administration. Nick works full-time off the ice as a Senior Data Analyst for a company in the health insurance sector. Nick loves to spend time with his wife, Marisa, and their pets, in addition to getting out on the golf course during his time away from the ice.

Ian Roberts
Goaltending Coach
Ian is in his fifth season working with the Dawgs, serving as the full-time assistant during the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 seasons, in addition to working as a goalie coach in the other three seasons since joining the team in 2021. Ian was the lone assistant coach on Roanoke's 2023 President's Cup championship team. In addition to his work with the Dawgs, the Grand Blanc, Michigan native remains involved with youth hockey in the area. Ian also owns a hockey glove and equipment modification business, with clients ranging across all levels of professional hockey, including the NHL.
Prior to his professional coaching career, Ian played six seasons of college hockey at the University of Michigan-Flint (ACHA), where he manned the net for 60 career games. Ian graduated from Michigan-Flint in 2017 with a degree in Business Administration. Nick works full-time off the ice as a Senior Data Analyst for a company in the health insurance sector. Nick loves to spend time with his wife, Jessica, their son, Arthur, and their dog, Crouton during his time away from the ice.

Travis Johns
Head Athletic Trainer
Travis has been with the team since the inaugural 2016-17 season, serving as the head athletic trainer. The Buffalo, New York native earned his Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from Alfred University, where he also played on the football team. Travis resides in Hardy with his wife, Blaire, three children, and his two dogs, Rocky and Odie. Before joining the Dawgs, Travis worked as athletic trainer for the Rochester Lancers (Major Arena Soccer League) and as an assistant athletic trainer at Houghton College. When he's away from the rink, Travis enjoys spending time with his family and pets, as well as rooting on the Buffalo Sabres.

Will Statzer
Equipment Manager
Will enters into his first year officially on the staff, as the Floyd native has been assisting the team’s hockey operations staff as a volunteer for the past four seasons. Statzer has worked in the locker room on home game days alongside previous equipment managers, traveled with the team to assist on the road, and even filled in for another SPHL team as an emergency equipment manager in the past. Away from the Dawgs, Statzer is also a part-owner and the manager of Cross Check Pro Shop located at Lancerlot in Vinton. When Will isn’t at the rink, he likes spending time at home with his family – his wife SaZha, his daughter SaNovia, their two dogs, and their two cats. Statzer also enjoys playing men’s league hockey and rooting for the Dallas Stars, Liberty University, and the University of Nevada-Las Vegas (UNLV).
