DAWGS ADD TWO MORE TO TRAINING CAMP ROSTER

Luke McColgan, Christopher Kravchuk sign for camp

ROANOKE, VA – The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs announced on Monday that forward Luke McColgan and defenseman Christopher Kravchuk have each been signed to tryout agreements and will be with the team for training camp in the second week of October.

McColgan will attempt to make his first professional roster when he arrives in Roanoke. A 22-year-old Manhattan Beach, California native, McColgan last played for University of Alaska-Anchorage in 2015-16.  Prior to that he skated for the BCHL’s Chilliwack Chiefs and totaled 14 goals and 14 assists over 49 games in his final junior season.

“Luke has a ton of talent,” Rail Yard Dawgs head coach Sam Ftorek said. “He’s trying to get back in the swing of things after some time away from the game and we’re excited to see what he can bring to the table.”

Kravchuk last played in 2014-15 when he appeared in five games with the FHL’s Dayton Demonz and notched one assist. Prior to that he skated in 26 games for OCN Blizzard of the MJHL in 2013-14, totaling three goals and eight assists in his last year of junior hockey.

The 6’3 blueliner is the son of Igor Kravchuk, a Russian-born defenseman who played in 699 NHL games from 1991-2003 for the Chicago Blackhawks, Edmonton Oilers, St. Louis Blues, Ottawa Senators, Calgary Flames and Florida Panthers.

“Chris obviously comes from a great hockey background,” Ftoreks said. “He’s got the size and the ability to succeed so I’m looking forward to seeing how he fits into what we have here in Roanoke.”

The Rail Yard Dawgs will open training camp on October 11 and begin the 2017-18 season at home against the Fayetteville Marksmen on October 20.
