BEN BAUER RETURNS, YONG JUN LEE SIGNED

Two more added to training camp roster

ROANOKE, VA – The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs announced on Thursday that defenseman Ben Bauer and forward Yong Jun Lee have each been signed to tryout agreements and will be with the team for training camp in October.

Bauer appeared in 40 SPHL games during his rookie season in 2016-17, split between Roanoke and the Columbus Cottonmouths. In 11 games with the Rail Yard Dawgs, the defenseman registered a pair of assists.  The Castleton University product finished his first pro season with one goal and six helpers.

“It’s nice to get Ben back in here and to have some continuity on the blue line going into camp,” Rail Yard Dawgs head coach Sam Ftorek said. “He had a great attitude and performed well when we brought him in last year.”

Lee will attempt to make his first North American roster when he arrives in Roanoke for camp. A native of Seoul, South Korea, the 32-year-old last played for Anyang Halla of the Asia League where he netted three goals and tallied 13 assists over 30 games in the 2015-16 season. He has also been a regular member of the South Korean national team since 2005.

“The fact that Lee has as much experience on his country’s national team as he does makes bringing him in an easy decision,” Ftorek said.

The Rail Yard Dawgs will open training camp in early October and begin the 2017-18 season at home against the Fayetteville Marksmen on October 20.
