DAWGS BRING BACK FORWARD DUO

Dmytro Babenko and David Gandara signed for training camp

ROANOKE, VA – The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs announced on Tuesday that forwards David Gandara and Dmytro Babenko have each signed agreements to return to the team for training camp in October.

Both Babenko and Gandara were on the Roanoke roster for the entire 2016-17 season. Gandara appeared in 33 games and tallied five goals and 15 assists before suffering a season-ending injury in February. It was his first full pro season, he also played three SPHL games for the Louisiana Ice Gators in 2015-16 following the conclusion of his four-year NCAA career at American International College. The 24-year-old hails from Canyon Lake, California.

Babenko suited up for 52 games for the Dawgs and finished with 11 goals and 12 assists. A native of Kharkiv, Ukraine, the 2016-17 campaign was the first as a professional for the 22-year-old winger. Babenko finished the season on a hot streak as he recorded a point in six of his last seven games, netting five goals with one assist during that span.

The Rail Yard Dawgs will open training camp in early October and begin the 2017-18 season at home against the Fayetteville Marksmen on October 20.
