DAWGS ADD TWO GOALIES
Ty Reichenbach and Brendan Leahy join training camp roster
ROANOKE, VA – The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs announced two additions to the training camp roster on Wednesday as goaltenders Ty Reichenbach and Brendan Leahy have each been signed to tryout agreements.
Reichenbach made his professional debut with the Rail Yard Dawgs in March following the conclusion of his college career at Norwich University. He appeared in three games for Roanoke and went 1-1-1 with a 2.92 GAA and .929 save percentage. Reichenbach was signed by the Dawgs just three days after making 35 saves in Norwich’s 4-1 win over Trinity College in the NCAA Division III national championship game.
A native of Billings, Montana, the 24-year-old netminder spent three season playing for the Cadets where he went 29-6-4 with a 1.85 GAA and .922 save percentage. As a senior in the 2016-17 season his 1.62 GAA was the second-best in NCAA Division III hockey.
Leahy played four seasons of college hockey with Providence College from 2013-17. He appeared in three games over his time with the Friars and was a member of the 2014-15 NCAA national championship team. He will attempt to make his first professional roster.
Roanoke’s training camp roster now features three goaltenders, with Reichenbach and Leahy joining Ryan de Melo.
“Reichenbach was great for us when he came in at the end of the season last year,” Rail Yard Dawgs head coach Sam Ftorek said. “With getting him back and adding Leahy to the mix that already included de Melo, we like the way our goaltending situation looks going into camp.”
The Rail Yard Dawgs will open training camp in early October and begin the 2017-18 season at home against the Fayetteville Marksmen on October 20.
