DAWGS INVITE A PAIR OF FORWARDS TO TRAINING CAMP

The Rail Yard Dawgs announced on Tuesday, that two new forwards, Nick Devito and Nick Ford, were added to Roanoke’s training camp roster.

Devito made his professional debut late in the 2019-20 season with the ECHL’s Worcester Railers before sitting out last year. Prior to Worcester, The five-foot-nine forward played college hockey at Morrisville State College. During his four seasons at Morrisville State, the New York native lit the lamp 36 times and added 57 assists in 100 career appearances.

“Nick had a really solid college career at Morrisville State (NCAA-DIII), consistently putting up big numbers offensively,” said Coach Bremner about Devito’s arrival to Roanoke. “Although he can make plays around the net, he is a solid 200-foot player that looks to take care of his own zone first. Nick has a very high hockey IQ, and we’ll be looking for him to step in and hit the ground running.”

Ford suited up at Elmira College before playing with the ECHL’s Florida Everblades and the SPHL’s Pensacola Ice Flyers. In Ford’s 106 collegiate games, the six-foot-one forward scored an eye-popping 63 goals and tacked on 81 assists. Due to the pandemic, Ford wasn’t able to play last year.

“Nick had a fantastic college career with Elmira College (NCAA-DIII), putting up big numbers,” said Coach Bremner when asked about Ford. “He’s a big body that can play a hard, heavy game and is also very gifted at putting the puck in the net. I’m excited to see how his game translates to professional hockey.”

Roanoke hits the ice for its first home game in 601 days on Friday, October 15 at 7:05 P.M. against the Fayetteville Marksmen. Opening Night is sponsored by Haley Toyota of Roanoke.
