SEAN ORLANDO SIGNED, JOEY BALLMER ACTIVATED

Ryan de Melo placed on injured reserve

ROANOKE, VA – The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs have announced a series or roster moves in advance of Tuesday night’s game against the Columbus Cottonmouths. Goaltender Ryan de Melo has been placed on 14-day injured reserve, goaltender Joey Ballmer has been activated from injured reserve and forward Sean Orlando has been signed to a three-game tryout contract.

Ballmer returns to the active roster after missing each of the last four games. In four appearances with the Rail Yard Dawgs he is 1-2-0 with a 5.89 goals against average and a .847 save percentage.

De Melo heads to IR, where he missed nine games from February 18-March 24. In his two games since returning from injury, he  has allowed ten goals on 48 shots. Over 28 appearances on the season de Melo is 9-13-3 with a 3.29 GAA and a .911 save percentage.

Orlando joins the Rail Yard Dawgs on his first professional contract. He recently completed his senior season at Trinity College, where he was a teammate of current Roanoke forward Jackson Brewer for two years. In 114 NCAA games for the Bantams, Orlando totaled 131 points (64 goals, 61 assists), including 18 goals and 17 assists during his senior campaign. He was a member of the 2015 Division III National Champion Trinity team and his Bantams fell in the national title game to Ty Reichenbach’s Norwich University team on March 25.

The Rail Yard Dawgs will hit the ice for their final home game of the regular season on Tuesday night. Puck drop against the Cottonmouths is scheduled for 7:05 PM at the Berglund Center.
