NCAA CHAMPION GOALTENDER TY REICHENBACH INKED

Rookie forward Evan Schultz also signed to contract

KNOXVILLE, TN – The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs have announced a series of player transactions in advance of Tuesday night’s game against the Knoxville Ice Bears. NCAA Division III national champion goaltender Ty Reichenbach has been signed to a contract, forward Evan Schultz has been signed to a contract, goaltender Joey Ballmer has been placed on 14-day injured reserve and defenseman/forward Alex Vazquez has been placed on waivers.

Reichenbach joins the Dawgs on his first professional contract just three days after making 35 saves on 36 shots to backstop Norwich University to a 4-1 victory over Trinity College in the NCAA Division III national championship game. He finished his senior season for the Cadets with an 11-1-3 record, 1.63 goals against average and .937 save percentage.

Schultz recently completed his senior season at Salve Regina University. Over 26 games played he netted 12 goals and dished out 14 assists. Through his NCAA career at Salve Regina and Oswego State, he had 77 points over 71 games.

Vazquez played two games for Roanoke and scored his first career goal during his first pro game on Friday against Columbus. He was granted his release so he could return to Ohio University and complete his final semester of college.

Ballmer has appeared in four games with the Dawgs, going 1-2-0 with a 5.89 goals against average and .847 save percentage. The rookie netminder earned his first professional victory with 36 saves on March 18 against the Peoria Rivermen.

The Rail Yard Dawgs will take the ice on Tuesday night in Tennessee against the Knoxville Ice Bears. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 PM at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum.
