MITCHELL MUELLER, FABIEN CURRIT SIGNED

Dawgs add two more to training camp roster

 

ROANOKE, VA – The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs announced on Wednesday that defensemen Mitchell Mueller and Fabien Currit have been signed to tryout agreements and will both be with the team for training camp in October.

Mueller skated in 30 SPHL games in 2016-17, including 24 with the Rail Yard Dawgs. The defenseman from Bakersfield, California tallied three goals and three assists over his time with Roanoke before being released on March 9. Standing at 6’4, Mueller also spent time with the FHL’s Danville Dashers where he totaled three goals and three assist s over 17 games played.

“We liked what Mitch showed when he was here last year,” Rail Yard Dawgs head coach Sam Ftorek said. “He’s a big body with a lot of promise and we’re glad to have him back.”

A native of Switzerland, the 22-year-old Currit has spent time in both the Swiss-A and Swiss-B leagues in four seasons as a professional. Checking in a 6’4 and 220 pounds, he appeared in 31 games for the Langnau Tigers of the Swiss-A League and four games with Martigny-Verbier Red Ice of the Swiss-B league. 2017-18 will be his first North American pro season.

“Fabien is another big guy who should bring some added size and physicality to our blue line,” Ftorek said. “We’re looking forward to seeing him compete.”

The Rail Yard Dawgs will open training camp in early October and begin the 2017-18 season at home against the Fayetteville Marksmen on October 20.
