JOE SOVA RETURNED FROM ECHL NORFOLK, COLIN MURRAY ACTIVATED OFF IR

Brian Rowland placed on IR, Evan Schultz placed on waivers

ROANOKE, VA – The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs announced on Wednesday that defenseman Joe Sova has been returned from loan to the ECHL’s Norfolk Admirals and forward Colin Murray has been activated from injured reserve.  Additionally, forward Evan Schultz has been placed on waivers and defenseman Brian Rowland has been placed on injured reserve.

Sova appeared in five games for the Admirals and totaled one goal. He rejoins the Dawgs for his first game since opening night when he had an assist in the 4-3 loss to the Fayetteville Marksmen. In 49 games with the Mississippi RiverKings during the 2016-17 season, Sova scored seven goals and tallied 19 assists.

Murray opened the season 21-day IR and became eligible to return on Thursday. He appeared in 17 games for the Dawgs in the 2016-17 season and finished with six goals and four assists. Murray also combined to play in 16 games for the ECHL’s Elmira Jackals and Greenville Swamp Rabbits in 2016-17 and totaled two goals.

Rowland has not yet registered a point over four games this season. Schultz had recorded a goal and four assists while skating to a -3 plus/minus rating.

The Rail Yard Dawgs will take on the RiverKings on Friday and Saturday night at the Berglund Center with puck drop for both nights scheduled for 7:05 PM. Friday is Claude Piché Tribute night and Saturday will be Hockey Fights Cancer night presented by Carilion Clinic and WROV. The first 750 fans through the gate on Saturday will get a free Rail Yard Dawgs scarf and the team will be wearing specialty jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game.
