JOE SOVA LOANED TO ECHL NORFOLK

MACON, GA – The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs announced on Thursday that defenseman Joe Sova has been loaned to the ECHL’s Norfolk Admirals.

Sova was acquired by the Dawgs in an offseason trade with the Fayetteville Marksmen. He made his Roanoke debut on Friday and had an assist in the Rail Yard Dawgs 4-3 loss to Fayetteville. 2016-17 was his first season in the SPHL, he played four games for the Peoria Rivermen and 52 for the Mississippi RiverKings, combining for seven goals and 23 assists.

An ECHL veteran, Sova returns to the league in which he has played 242 career games over parts of five seasons. He joins Roanoke teammate Dmytro Babenko who was called up to Norfolk on Tuesday.

The Rail Yard Dawgs return to action on Friday night in Macon against the Mayhem. Puck drop at the Macon Coliseum is scheduled for 7:35 PM. Roanoke’s next home game will take place on November 3 at 7:05 PM against the Evansville Thunderbolts.
