GJURICH NAMED SPHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ROANOKE, VA – The Southern Professional Hockey League announced on Tuesday that Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs forward Tyler Gjurich has been named the Bauer Player of the Week for October 24-30. Gjurich becomes the first recipient of the award in franchise history.

During Roanoke’s weekend sweep of the Evansville Thunderbolts, Gjurich tallied three goals and two assists for a total of five points. On Friday, he assisted on two goals including the eventual game-winner during the Rail Yard Dawgs 3-2 victory over the Thunderbolts. He followed that performance with a hat trick on Saturday, helping the Dawgs to a come-from-behind 5-3 victory.

It was the first hat trick in franchise history and Gjurich’s seventh as a professional. The Hatfield, PA native recorded six hat tricks during his 50 goal, 50 assist campaign for the Danbury Titans of the Federal Hockey League in 2015-16, for which he was named league MVP.

Gjurich and the Rail Yard Dawgs return home to take on the Fayetteville FireAntz at 7:05 PM on Friday at the Berglund Center.  Tickets can be purchased at Berglund Center Box Office, online at theberglundcenter.com or by phone at 1-877-482-8496
