Additionally, forward Mac Jansen has been placed on the 14-day injured reserve list. The Roanoke captain has seven goals, 12 assists, and a plus-three rating this year for the Dawgs, and has been on a seven-game point streak prior to his injury in last night’s win over Macon. Last season, Jansen helped Roanoke to its first President’s Cup championship, tallying 19 goals and 30 assists in 55 regular season games, and added a goal and three assists during the postseason. Jansen’s overtime goal in Game Four of the Final clinched the first professional hockey championship in Roanoke since 1987. Since joining the Dawgs during the 2018-2019 season, the White Bear Lake, Minnesota native is the all-time franchise leader in games played (209), goals (74), and points (169).
Forward Steven Leonard has also returned from his call-up to the ECHL’s Iowa Heartlanders. Leonard is in his fourth professional season, as he’s played in 139 regular season pro games across the ECHL, SPHL, and FPHL since 2020. The five-foot-ten forward joined his twin brother, Sean, in Roanoke this past offseason after previous stops last season with Danbury (FPHL), Pensacola (SPHL), and Iowa (ECHL). In 22 games for the Dawgs this season, the Rockaway Park, New York native has tallied two goals, four assists, and a team-high five fighting majors.
