DAWGS ACQUIRE TRAVIS JEKE FROM KNOXVILLE

Roanoke swaps Michael Turner for Ice Bears blueliner

ROANOKE, VA – The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs have traded forward Michael Turner to the Knoxville Ice Bears in exchange for defenseman Travis Jeke. Knoxville has in turn sent Turner to the Mississippi RiverKings for forward Mitchell Vandergunst.

Jeke has appeared in 14 games for the Ice Bears this season, notching a goal and five assists. The rookie out of Boston College has also enjoyed stints with three separate ECHL teams, appearing in one game with the Adirondack Thunder, three for the Elmira Jackals and nine with the Toledo Walleye.

Turner spent 25 games with the Rail Yard Dawgs and totaled six goals and nine assists. The Chicago native has also played 19 games with the ECHL’s Greenville Swamp Rabbits, scoring one goal and dishing out three assists.

The Rail Yard Dawgs will play their first on eight consecutive road games on Friday night in Southaven, Mississippi against the Mississippi RiverKings. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 PM CST at the Landers Center.
