ROANOKE, VA – The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs announced on Wednesday that goaltender Brad Barone has been returned from loan to the ECHL’s Reading Royals. He will be with the team for the weekend’s games against the Fayetteville Marksmen and Knoxville Ice Bears.

Barone was called up on Thursday of last week. He served as the backup goaltender for each of Reading’s games against the Norfolk Admirals but did not see any game action. Barone returns to Roanoke, where he has appeared in 21 games with 16 starts and gone 6-10-1 with a 3.44 GAA and .911 save percentage. In his last game with the Rail Yard Dawgs he recorded a shutout, making 24 saves in Roanoke’s 1-0 shootout victory over Birmingham on January 27.

Additionally, Mark Shifflett has been released as the emergency backup goaltender.

The Rail Yard Dawgs hit the ice on Thursday in Fayetteville against the Marksmen. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM at the Crown Coliseum. The Dawgs then return home to once again take on the Marksmen on Friday night. It’s Star Wars Night in Roanoke and puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
